Every Beetle comes with an engine that's powerful and efficient:

• The Beetle GL and Beetle GLS come standard with 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder in-line V-4 engine that delivers 115 horsepower and 122 pounds-per-foot of torque.



• The Beetle GLX comes standard with a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder V-5 turbocharged engine that delivers 150 horsepower, and 162 pounds-per-foot of torque.



• The Beetle Turbo S comes standard with a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder V-5 turbocharged engine that delivers 180 horsepower and 174 pounds-per-foot of torque.



• Finally, another available engine is the 1.9-liter, 4-cylinder direct-injection diesel that delivers 90 horsepower and 149 pounds-per-foot of torque.

Whichever Beetle model you choose, the Beetle transmission comes standard as a five-speed manual, and the car also includes independent front McPherson struts, rear gas shock absorbers, and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering. What's more, with Electronic Braking Control, the Beetle refuses to skid in slippery conditions, no matter what.

As you can see in the Beetle picture above, the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle doesn't only perform well, it looks good, too. In addition to the car's unique tortoise-shell appearance, the car comes standard with exterior features such as body color bumpers, plastic front and rear fenders, dual-tone horns, daytime running lights, optional rear spoiler, optional power sunroof, and heated windshield washer nozzles.
